Scarborough Model Flying Club was formed in 1981 with the clear objectives of promoting and furthering activities in the field of model construction and flying.

Although named "Scarborough” Model Flying Club our members also come from a wide area around Scarborough including Malton, Pickering, Whitby and Filey.

We always welcome new members and if required offer friendly advice in choosing and flying your first aircraft or helicopter. We are even willing to give first time flyers flight training using the club's training aircraft.

Our flying site affectionately known to our members as "Yedingham International" is located 9½ miles south west of Scarborough, close to the former home of pioneer aviator Sir George Cayley.

If the weather permits, most members meet at 10am every Sunday morning at our large regularly mown grass flying field located off the Snainton/Yedingham B1258 road at map ref: OS 895809. During the summer months, we also like to fly as often as we can in the evening.

At the flying site we operate an off the peg frequency control system. Frequencies 55-78FM inclusive are used for fixed wing aircraft, and 80-90 inclusive are used for helicopters. 79FM is not used. There are restrictions as to the engine size and weight of aircraft we are able to operate from our flying field.

As well as flying model aircraft and helicopters we also hold committee meetings, social meetings, dinners, visits, and attend local model shows.
